Emergency

Pain and emergencies

A pain complaint is never pleasant. That’s why we want to help you as quickly as possible.

Outside our regular opening hours and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), we collaborate with Tandartsspoedpraktijk Amersfoort Meander for emergency services. For any pain complaints and/or emergencies that cannot wait until the next working day, you can contact Tandartsspoedpraktijk Amersfoort Meander at tel: 0900-8602. Address: Maatweg 3, 3813 TZ, Amersfoort.

For acute pain or other emergencies during our practice’s opening hours, please call 033-2007007.

In addition to the Amersfoort location, Tandartsspoedpraktijk also has locations in: Utrecht (St. Antonius), Amsterdam (OLVG, East location), Leiden (CBT), Alkmaar, Nijmegen (CWZ), The Hague (HMC Westeinde), Zwolle (ISALA), and Groningen. If another location is more convenient for you at that moment, you can indicate your preference over the phone. Tandartspsoedpraktijk will then, if possible, help you find the most suitable location. If another location suits you better, you can choose the most convenient one from the options above. For more information about the emergency service, you can also visit their website: https://tandartsspoedpraktijk.nl/

Important matters

Several matters you should also consider before calling the Dental Emergency Practice;

What to bring

  • Always have your BSN (or that of the person for whom you want to make an appointment) and the name of your own dental practice ready. The Dental Emergency Practice needs this information to schedule an appointment.
  • You must bring a valid ID.
  • You must pay the invoice immediately after the treatment (preferably by debit card or credit card).

Costs and reimbursements

  • The costs of an emergency treatment are the same as those of a regular dental treatment. These costs are determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (https://puc.overheid.nl/nza/doc/PUC_715186_22/).
  • Legally established surcharges may apply for evening, night, weekend services, and during recognized public holidays. Inquire about this when you call.
  • You will always receive an invoice from Tandartsspoedpraktijk.
  • If you have additional dental insurance, you can submit your invoice afterward to your health insurer for reimbursement. For information about reimbursements from your supplementary insurance, you should consult your own health insurer.
  • Children under 18 who need emergency dental care may have their costs partially or fully covered by the basic health insurance. If possible, check with your insurer which treatments and costs are covered by the basic insurance for children under 18.

Finally

  • Tandartsspoedpraktijk does not have access to your patient file and cannot view it. Therefore, the Dental Emergency Practice will limit itself to providing first aid. For any follow-up treatments, you will be referred back to your own dentist, as usual.
  • After making an appointment with Tandartsspoedpraktijk, you will receive a confirmation by email.
  • Please note that your appointment time at Tandartsspoedpraktijk is always an approximate time. You are requested to arrive on time, and every effort is made to assist you promptly, which generally works well. However, you may experience delays and longer wait times, as it is impossible to predict how long each patient’s appointment will take. Additionally, certain emergency appointments always take priority. As a result, you may be asked to wait longer or receive a call informing you that your appointment will be delayed. This is the case for trauma/bleeding emergencies or emergencies involving children.
  • You can always cancel your emergency appointment by phone via the above number, up to a maximum of 1 hour before the appointment. In accordance with national guidelines, the Dental Emergency Practice will charge the code C90 for missed appointments if you do not cancel in time or fail to show up.
  • When scheduling the appointment, you will be asked for the name of your own dentist so that, after the treatment, our practitioner can securely send the treatment report and any X-rays by email to your own dentist, allowing them to take over the treatment.
